| Nichiren's whole life | birth Nichiren was born in 1222 at Kominato Awa, and he was given the name Zennichimaro. 11 years old Zennichimaro ascended Mt. Kiyosumi where he became a disciple of Master Dozen in 1233. The name of Yakuomaro was conferred upon him. 21 years old nichiren went to Mt. Hiei to study Buddhism, at that tume Hiei-Zan was the center of Buddhist learning in Japan. 32 years old he returned to Mt. Kiyosumi in 1253,and established his new Buddhist sect saying "Na-mu Myoho-ren-ge-kyo," at asahigamori bluff. 35 years old Nichiren starfed "Tsuji-seppo",street preaching, at the streets of Kamakura where 39 years old He submitted "Rissho ankoku ron " to the government in 1260. 40 years old "Izu-honan", the first of four great persecutions in 1261. 43 years old "komatsubara-honan",the second persecution in 1264. 50 years old "tastunokuchi-honan",the third persecution in 1271. He was exiled on Sado Island. the fourth persecution. 53 years old Nichiren was pardoned and left Sado Island, then went to Minobu in 1274. He spent eight years there,left Minobu in 1284,headed to Ikegami (located in present day Tokyo). 61 years old Nichiren passed into nirvana at Ikegami in 1282 |
