What kind of wood do you use for statue?

The quality of wood is flat and sticky .
The wooden statue has a nice finish.

Japanese cyprss ,camphor wood,pine and so on meet the conditions.

Japanese cyprss	Annual rings are fine and there is little contraction,a good scent,is used for many existing Buddhist images. Japanese cyprss has a highest quality for material of a wood carving
camphor wood	A scent of this wood is good and after finish is excellent in a feeling cubic effect of sculpture. It seems that it is congenial also to size 1 tree finish or light-coloring color finish since there is also a big tree. .

What else is good for wood carving of Buddhist image?

Kiso pine	It is easy to carve this wood, and although it is a cheap material.
Japanese Judas wood	the best for Buddha image's relief of transom.
yew wood	Imostly used for "Ittoubori",
